Tekno (1994)
1994 saw the publication of Tekno. Digitaalisen tanssimusiikin historia, filosofia ja tulevaisuus ("Techno. The history, philosophy, and future of digital dance music", Aquarian Publications, 350 pages). It was an anthology book, edited by Sam Inkinen , with contributions from such people as Markku "Cosmo" Salmi (1950 - 2024), Bello Romano and several other writers. It was allegedly the first full-length book written in Finnish on techno and other electronic dance music and related rave and club cultures. The book reflects the development of electronic dance music, ambient and related genres, up to the time of its publication, with emphasis on European, especially German, and British scenes, featuring also a perfunctory chapter dedicated to the Detroit techno pioneers. Over the years, Tekno has managed to gather quite a cult reputation, never reprinted and now highly sought after from second-hand bookstores and other used book sellers. [Click for larger im...
