Kuva
[Suomeksi] The 94-minute documentary JR29: Vaiettu rykmentti ("JR29: The Hushed Regiment") premiered on 27 April 2025 in Kaustinen, Finland. I edited this film, did other post-production (and worked a bit on the sound effects, though it was Markku Riipi who was mainly responsible for the documentary’s sound editing), and also acted as an archive editor building the visual narrative. The film was largely made by the same team that was also behind Marokon kauhu – Dokumenttielokuva suomalaisesta taistelijasta ("The Terror of Morocco – Documentary Film about a Finnish Warrior", 2024). 2025 Trailer. (CC: English subtitles) This is the story of Jalkaväkirykmentti 29 (JR29), Finnish Infantry Regiment 29, which was assembled from Central Ostrobothnia for the Continuation War of 1941-44. The regiment advanced through bloody battles on Ladoga Karelia and Olonets Karelia to Petrozavodsk, where it arrived in October 1941, and continued until the trench...

Argon took a dork, what we got was Organ Organ took Futu, what we got was bream spawn Soundi 5/1982 Words by: Arto Pajukallio [Suomeksi] Dear readers of Soundi, you may remember the EP sent with this magazine a while ago, as a showcase of Poko Rekords presenting four of their recent albums. Among them was the title song “Organ”, from the longplay of Organ. ”Otimme messiin tuon Eppujen dorkan / nyt Argon-orkan nimi on Organ” [“We took along that dork from Eppu Normaali / now the Argon orchestra is called Organ”] , sang Seppo, and Mikko in turn declared: ”En tahdo enää tutkia lahnan kutua / tahdon, tahdon soittaa futua”. [“I don’t want to study the spawning of bream anymore / I want to, I want to play futu” - “Futu” being the Finnish nickname for synthpop.] Seppo is Parkkinen, Mikko is Saarela, of course. Seppo and Pekka Tolonen formed a synthesizer duo last summer that made the awesome LP “Kone kertoo” [“The machine tells”] for the QUU label – or in the ...

Argon otti dorkan, tuli Organ Organ otti futua, tuli lahnan kutua Soundi 5/1982 Teksti: Arto Pajukallio [In English] Soundin lukijat, muistanette jokin aikaa sitten lehden mukana saadun EP:n, jolla Poko esitteli neljää albumiaan. Seppo on Parkkinen, Mikko tietenkin Saarela.

SÄHKÖ Bulb 2/1995 [Suomeksi] Sähkö Recordings is the only established ambient techno label in Finland. The label started its operations in January 1993 with Röntgen EP by Ø. Founded by Tommi Grönlund, Sähkö (“Electricity”), during its three years, has managed to gather some critical acclaim and a cult reputation, especially in England. You could say that the albums released by Sähkö belong to the ambient techno genre. These albums have often been described as abstract minimalism. However, these classifications make it difficult to get to grips with the specific nature of this music. Like any other small record label, also Sähkö operates on a very personal level as far as its publishing principles go. The artists have all been found through mutual acquaintances. According to Tommi Grönlund, in order for an album to be released, it must have its "own strange thing". That is, something special that makes it its own, that creates its own identity and makes it inte...
